Daniel Covert, LMSW
"The need to be closely related to others is as basic as any biological need, and is... equally necessary to survival." - Irvin Yalom
Hello! My name is Daniel. Have you tried therapy and felt like you still weren’t understood or that it didn’t work for you? - No matter how hard you tried? I understand the impact of either being gender queer or neurodivergent [Autistic, ADHD, Persistent Drive for Autonomy (PDA), dyslexic, dysgraphic, dyscalculic] in a world built for neurotypical-brains. Life is often more difficult due to neurological differences that impact communication, executive functioning, sensory regulation, role-perceptions, and learning in general. You are not broken! If you want a therapist who actually understands your struggles, strengths, and needs of your neurotype - I'm your person!
What would your life be like if you stopped spending all of your energy masking for others? How would it feel to see that you’re not broken, but rather, identify ways you are surviving in an environment that wasn’t made to fit you? If you're looking for a nerdy therapist who is interested in supporting you, your special interests, and can teach you healthy methods on how to view yourself? Let's work together! My practice philosophy emphasizes non-judgemental methods that include IFS, TF-CBT, DBT, and relational approaches.
Imagine if you could get to a place where you’re not consumed by overwhelm, exhaustion, or having to play a role that is just not you? Where you could learn to trust yourself and stop trying to fit into neurotypical, ableist expectations that don’t work for you. My highest priority is for you to experience the joy of learning how to be your most authentic self; establish boundaries to help others see you as you wish to be seen; and for you to put forth your strengths, honor your needs, and advocate for accommodations!
I’m an autistic therapist that understands the challenges of making and keeping relationships, the cycle of high performance then burnout, creating a mask for each person or situation that crosses your path, and being told repeatedly by the world that you’re too much or not enough - or both! I can help. Schedule a consultation call with me!
I am now offering two options for Adult Autism Assessments. Both options include several assessment measures, including the MIGDAS-2, which is especially tuned to identify high-masking folks. This session is 3-hours long, is priced at $750. The second option additionally includes an extensive written report that covers the results of each assessment, and the cost for this option is $1200.
In addition to my focused work on neurodivergence and LGBTQIA2+ issues, I also work well with folks struggling with suicidal ideation, religious trauma, gaming-addiction, purity culture, and asexualiy.
